Gracen, thank you for sharing such a personal response. You are an inspiration, I really appreciate your post. It was well thought out and it had some really fun links!
I think that the way of teaching is slowly evolving and hopefully changing into something that is a more positive environment for the children.
I lived in the united states for 10 years and then another year I went to high school, I can say with confidence that it is not the same as the education in Canada. In the States, I saw how classrooms were set up in a very traditional way with only grades and GPA being the most important aspect. I did very well, however, this was not an ideal setup.
I work with a client who I tutor through my company, and the teachers of this student have effectively given up on them. It is such a sad thing to witness. I really hope that there is going to be more room for change and growth in the system.

Hi Gracen,
Wow, I followed along with the presentation, and it was super easy to follow and a great way of introducing art therapy. It is so nice to see how simple a learning design can be yet it hit all of the crucial points that needed to be included in order to have kiddos benefit from the therapy. I also agree that there is something to be said about non-verbal communication. It is so essential as human beings, especially as a young kiddo they are so susceptible to non-verbal communication, and use that as a primary form of communication for a very long time. The thought of having more art therapy in the classroom is so critical like you said it is an amazing tool and so vital for those kiddos to express themselves in non-verbal ways.

I am a behavioural interventionist and this is so true, I think that it is so important to be able to have alternative ways of learning in the classroom. While some students have troubles with a traditional school setting I think that more and more teachers are doing a fantastic job at developing different ways and approaches towards what learning looks like across the other groups of individuals. Teaching is one of the most challenging jobs in the world, and being able to be so creative with different approaches really helps those individuals who are needing that extra help. In my own experience I have had non verbal learners who are amazing at communicating in other forms and that has really taught me a lot about the different ways in which people can communicate.
